This post is a month late, and I am only posting it because news people I hear in the news are still talking about it. So if you were like me and didn’t watch when it happened (you were probably distracted by concentration camps) you are now reminded again of this video going around.
This video is Bernie Sanders, the junior Senator from Vermont, delivering remarks on what “Democratic Socialism” means to him on June 12, 2019, and why you should care.
This video is the entire event. Sanders begins his remarks around 31m44s, and speaks for about an hour, then answers questions.
Once you’ve watched the entire three hours, check out some commentary about the speech from Jacobin.

Right, “junior” senator, with over a decade’s experience as a congressman and a term as Mayor in Burlington so successful he was ranked America’s Best Mayor by Time magazine, but yeah, “junior” senator. Lol
The term is not meant to speak to his record but rather the fact that he was elected to the senate after an already-seated member, Patrick Leahy. When Leahy is replaced Sanders will become the senior Senator from Vermont. They use the designation to determine procedural Senate stuff.
