T-Mobile Merger is Crap

Anyone wondering what’s up with this “surprise” announcement from German wireless carrier T-Mobile can find all the answers in this article in New Republic by David Dayen (@ddayen).

One of my favorite journalists covering, among others, the banking/finance/recession beats—TL/DR: telecoms consistently lie about their need to merge, how the merger will inexplicably create more competition, and how they’re going to invest in infrastructure, services, and new product development with all the money they save. This doesn’t happen.
