San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors just unanimously passed a measure called the Retail Workers Bill of Rights. This would grant the city’s 40,000 retail workers some basic things, like knowing when they’re scheduled to work more than a couple days in advance, and includes measures that would force employers to offer extra hours to part-time employees instead of hiring another part-timer. This is something as yet unseen in the modern American economy, even for California.
We all know a bedraggled retail worker or two, and it can’t be denied that the excitement of random scheduling and lack of paid sick leave really gets old after awhile.
Combine this with Obamacare and a living wage and San Francisco will be but a smokin’ crater of socialist anarchy this time next year.
Brilliant!
