A long but worthwhile read featuring Thomas Frank and Barry Lynn discussing the origins of antitrust laws in the United States, (Americans are only very recently ignorant of the dangers of concentrated power – be it political, industrial or financial) what those laws did for free markets, workers and consumers, and how Reagan’s politically ingenious gutting of the enforcement of those laws has yielded our current state of tremendous monopoly and wealth inequality.
Fun Statistic: The Walton family (of Walmart infamy) have as much money as 41.5% of Americans.
